The Local Court has a range of sentancing options available to it. 

 

They range from not recording a conviction at all to full time imprisionment. 

 

          Local Court Sentencing

For minor offences, the Court may proceed to sentances such as fines or good behavoiur bonds.

 

In resect of Driving matters, periods of disqualification from driving may be imposed, either automatically or by the Court.

 

For matters that require a prison sentance, the Court can obtain a pre-sentance report to advise on alternatives to full time imprisionment.

 

Full time imprisionment is a last resort, usually reserved for repeat offenders or serious offenders.

It is in your interests that your Local Court Sentnacing matter is properly managed.  

If you cannot afford private representation, Legal Aid may be available to you.
